After MTUGS Trans Day of Visibility Celebration, two hoes went to Church!
Sister Marjorie and Sister Jewnita were invited to Christ Church Cathedral to celebrate and join in on the service during the Transgender Day of Visibility Ecumenical Service and Celebration! Sister Jewnita quickly made friends with a BDSM group here in St Louis and even started dating a new statue! Sister Marjorie got the choir members to show her their beards in a random little contest before the service started and they were pretty epic. Just saying, and then was honored to give the blessing to help kick off the service. The service was beautiful and we all felt safe in Christ Church Cathedral, celebrating our divinity and Jewnitas new statue friend. A copy of the blessing written by Sister Marjorie Arcana, edited by Sister Glamarama Ding Dong of the City of Fountain Sisters! (Thank you for all your support! Sister Glamarama Ding Dong!) Invocation of our Transcestors "Creator of all that is good You who create the world in beauty and diversity. We call to you to make this space sacred and safe. Bless us so that we may remember the strength and endurance it takes to move through this white cis hereronormative world. So that we remember our sacred purpose here on Earth. To show others a love and freedom outside of a cage with painted skies. Sacred gatekeeper. you who bridge this world and the next. Open the way to our Trancestors so they may walk among us and bless us. I call to Sylvia Rivera Trancestor of righteous activism, bless us with the power of speech to use our voice to speak against oppression even when our voice shakes with fury and fear. I call to Brandon Teena Trancestor of lived truth, bless us with standing in our truth, even when it means staring down a hate that would erase us rather than acknowledge us. I call to Marsha Pay it no mind Johnson Trancestor of enduring joy, bless us with the vision to see joy in the world despite the ugliness of oppression, even when we have to look past gender norms to see it. I call to Billy Tipton Trancestor of loving creativity, bless us with the heart to love fully through our passions, art and relationships, even when we feel we don't have the spoons to express ourselves. I call to Angie Xtravaganza Trancestor of fierce care, bless our hands so that we may provide for those we love, even in hostile emviroments where we aren't always welcome. I call to all Trans and non binary ancestors Those who were not named Those who struggled in the face of adversity those who survived from back alley procedures and hormones when doctors insisted they were a walking mental illness. Those who took in others in the community acting as parents to children who were disowned. Those who created family Those who redefined love Bless us as we live by your honor and guidance. Bless us in our work for a better future. Bless us as we go out into the world with eyeshadow and a cute ass lippie to rule the day! Bless us as we bind our chests and practice self affirmations through our pronouns and name. We are all beloved in the eyes of the creator Let us be honored may we remember our sacredness as we go forth into the world. Afolk."

Sisters Mothra Stewart and Gay Bitch Milkshake were happy to attend the premier of the Rainbow Cafe’s new downtown Carbondale space as it put on the Southern Illinois Trans Resource Fair and TDOV Rally on Trans day of Visibility!
Tabling from a variety community health and LGBTQ organizations as well as RC resources and activities for trans advocacy, all alongside bobo tea and yummy snacks, showed off the real potential of the new and ample home of the RC. After four moving speeches from local trans activists (Alex Waller, Jack Ami, Clare Killman, and Benito Goff), Sr Mothra Stewart and Sr Gay Bitch Milkshake led a crowd of about thirty folks through downtown Carbondale, with some of the more adventurous activists taking the march into the streets. Gusts were frequent with the area under a severe thunderstorm watch, but trans and queer folks are used to turbulence and the winds of change. A stiff breeze tried to steal one of Sr Mothra’s antenna, and Sr Gay Bitch Milkshake startled a few pigeons with their cob-staff, but all in all Carbondale saw and (for the most part) supported its trans community on the International Transgender Day of Visibility. Also present at the event but unmanifested (and responsible for much of the behind the scenes organizing!) were Sr Fagatha Hardness and Sr Toggaf Tuls Reeuq. Sister Jewnita Hug and Sister Marjorie Arcana were invited to MTUGS Trans day of Visibility celebration to help make safe space, pass out pizza and vibe with the crowd!
There were amazing from the heart speeches given, Sister Marjorie even gave a mini speech, pizza was definitely eaten, Sister Jewnita munched on some chips and Sister Marjorie tried some good ass Dollar store lemonade! Yall don't sleep on the Dollar Store these Dirty Hoes love them some Dollar Store. It was so nice to share space with so many amazing out and proud individuals at the MTUG head quarters Friday. Thank you all so much for inviting us out and letting us party with yall! We love you MTUG! Sister Marjorie Arcana got up, got painted and got out to FoxCon at Fox High School in Arnold to support and make safe space for all the Queer folks at the event. Many youths showed up dressed as their favorite characters from video games to anime. It was a smaller event with a lot of heart.
One young adult spoke with Sister Marjorie about seeing a lot of anti-trans news on tik tok and how uncomfortable that made them. They told Sister Marjorie how they weren’t sure what they would do if they were in the states passing those anti trans and anti-drag bills. Sister Marjorie spent time reassuring them that they and a whole lot of other people were going to fight against that hate and everything was going to be ok. After the event they then changed up their look and got ready for the rally that night, Its All Drag! In the city of St Louis. Sister Jewnita Hug, Marjorie Arcana and guest Zach from the Gateway City Ghostbusters, marched with the folks through The Grove in solidarity against the Anti Drag and Trans laws being proposed and passed throughout the midwestern and southern states.
They got to meet some really amazing and brave individuals who strapped on their heels, threw on some eyeshadow and walked from Rehab to PRISM shouting THIS IS WHAT COMMUNITY LOOKS LIKE! Once everyone got to PRISM the Sisters mingled with the crowd and Sister Jewnita was a hit with kids and adults alike, as they spray painted the rainbow all over Jewnitas dress. Sister Jewnita definitely spread joy and even bent over for Mr. Missouri Leather 2022 Tighearn Draiocht so he could spray on them too! Sister Marjorie gave hugs and got to meet with and comfort some folks who were in need of some emotional comfort as well as mingled with folks who loved her more traditional nun outfit! Overall, the rally was a huge success and the turn out was amazing! The SOIL Sisters were honored to be apart and are honored to be able to serve the city of St Louis along with the Southern Il region and the Metro East! Congratulations to Maxi Glamour, Jordan Elizabeth Braxton and Akasha Royale who received their ICON awards from Out in STL for their work in Jefferson City, putting a stop to the bans in Missouri being proposed at the time. Thank you for putting in the work and doing so much for community! Yesterday, Mothra Stewart in all her Mothy Glory, fluttered on over to the All Species Puppet Parade, Puppet-making workshop to read to children some facts about nature and Moths!
The children were delighted to learn more and Sister Mothra continued to serve elegant Mothy Glamour while doing the Divines work. She compared butterflies to moths and even revealed Moths get a whole week of celebration during national moth week. They even got their own mothy website! Sister Mothra stated that Moths typically fly at night, that Moths have feathery antenna and when resting moths tend to spread them wings out! Thank you, Sister Mothra, for all the work you’ve done and these Dirty Hoes definitely learned something new too! Today is the first day of spring, a time of hope renewed and renewal of life. A time sweep out the stagnant energy within the self and home. It also means something for a handful of hoes in Southern Illinois. Tonight the SOIL Sisters were voted in as the newest fully professed house with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. What does that mean? It means we have been fully recognized by our fellow houses for the hard work we have done over the last 2 1/2 years. It means that we keep serving the amazing queer community of Southern Illinois as well as the St Louis Metropolitan area and the Metro East. They say in the business that today is the day that the real work begins. Not for us. Today is the day that we keep doing the real work that we've been doing for the past 2 1/2 years and longer.
WE DID IT BITCHES!!!!! Sr Mothra Stewart’s secular self moderated a Town Hall meeting sponsored by Rainbow Cafe with candidates for local school boards.
Only three agreed to attend and at the last minute all three withdrew, one citing illness and two citing pressure from right wing constituents. A community discussion was held instead, with community expressing what they want from school boards to address myriad challenges facing all youth, including LGBTQIA+ youth last night. Great frustration was shared about candidates for public service being uninterested or unwilling to talk to the public. One trans woman present noted that she did not have the option of letting threats from transphobes keep her from going out into public. The event was live streamed on the Rainbow Cafe FB page. |
