Honoring Our Heroes on Memorial Day

5/30/2022

Today, we celebrate Memorial Day by remembering the people who have served, lived, and died to protect our freedoms and ideals. The SOIL Sisters want to thank all of our heroes for standing up when you could have sat down. For fighting for freedoms you may have only gotten to taste. To the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC service members we remember you especially, for fighting for a future of inclusivity, love, and tolerance. These are values you held close to your hearts, and we continue your fight. Thank you!

SOIL Sister's Take a Stroll in the Delmar Loop!

5/22/2022

Hello hello hello!!! Well our first SOIL Sister Stroll is officially completed! Today we joined forces with Fourth City Sisters very own Mistress of Novices FP Sister Ursa Tutula to spread love and joy in the Delmar Loop.
It was amazing. We had people say they felt like they were at home seeing Sisters in St Louis! a couple of folks even came from San Francisco! We even had someone say they recognized who we were because they were familiar with the Sisters in New Orleans. They were very happy we were there.
We got stopped by a pastor who talked with us about what we thought would be good talking points on what LGBT+ people need when they go on their trip to speak on it. Sister Jewnita Hug really shined in telling them about how trans youth need to be protected. Sister Marjorie Arcana was also asked to come speak at his church to help introduce his congregation to LGBT+ topics and people.
We handed out tons of cards, gave hugs and joy, spoke to artists in their galleries and stores. People are starting to know and see us and it is such a joy to experience

May 22nd is observed as Harvey Milk Day in the United States of America every year. This day is dedicated to the first openly gay politician Harvey Milk who supported equality of all kinds and types. The occasion of Harvey Milk Day is not only a celebration of the ideas of Harvey Milk but also an inspiration for all us to work on those ideas. Happy Harvey Milk Day

The SOIL Sister's go to Southern Illinois Pride Prom!

Last night we spent the evening at Southern Illinois Pride Prom. We ensured that no room was left between dancers while having to wrangle Sister Fagatha and her rogue nipple as her dress apparently wasn't wanting to fit....a likely story knowing her. We were also joined by Sister IDKTBD, while Sister Mothra and Sister Gay Bitch Milkshake swept the dance floor! It was an amazing way to end a crazy week here in SOIL country!

Picnic in the Park: Pride Edition!

5/15/2022

First thing we can say about this event is that it was a lot nicer weather then in November when we all froze to death. Only thing this time was the storms threatened to blow us to Oz. Which.....isnt necessarily a bad thing!

SOIL Sisters Kitty Sprinkles, Marjorie Arcana, Gay Bitch Milkshake and Fagatha Hardness took to nature much to Fagatha's resentment, to bond with the community of Carbondale IL, for the first event of the Picnic in the Park series: Pride Edition! Sister Gay Bitch Milkshake got up on stage and floored the crowd with some awesome tunes. Sister Fagatha helped with the technical aspects to make sure Sister Queer-e-okie was as fantastically homosexual as those who attended. It was also the first time that Sister Marjorie Arcana got to meet and manifest for the community and what an absolute joy they were. They made sure to make sure that venders knew they were available to cover tables for the ever important "potty breaks". Sister Kitty made connections with The Connection Action Place to help expand necessary items needed for our bliss kits for those in our area who are younger or well....you know..we all know that one guy.....

All in all it was an amazing event and while the storms threatened to rain on our parade we prevailed! Here's to an amazing Pride season that is quickly approaching. Namaste Gay!

And we didn't even know we were expecting!  This last weekend another amazing human joined the ranks of being a Dirty Hoe.  Sister Marjorie Arcana of St. Louis, MO graciously accepted our prom proposal of joining the SOIL Sisters and being another satellite Sister doing the good work in the St Louis Metropolitan Area.  Just us as we celebrate this joyful news!

Service...it is our calling and our obligation and duty

Saturday night we danced under the lights in the glitz and glamor that was Prom....Sunday was quite a different story.

The SOIL Sisters had the extreme privilege of serving hot meals along side members of Trinity Episcopal Church to the underhoused community in St. Louis. It was a very humbling experience indeed for those in our house who connected to this amazing gift of service. It is a harsh reminder that not every day is promised and that circumstances can change but also an amazing reminder that we as a community must be compassionate to each other.
Thank you to Paster Aaron and Paster John for inviting us to serve fellowship to those in our community who are not able to share the luxury we take for granted. But mostly thank you to every single person who came to eat a hot meal and allowing us the space to serve you and see you and for a brief time include you in our family

Prom!

Omg we all went to Prom!!!!! Last night was MEPSI Gay Prom and the Sisters were out, proud and loud. We twirled away the night spreading joy and love with the Fourth City Sisters: Abbey of the Glittering Arch. We got to slow dance with beautiful humans (we saved a little room for Jesus), saw wonderful friends we haven't seen since MEPSI Pride and hosted a pretty amazing dessert station (we are available for catering events and parties).
SPECIAL THANK YOU TO: Joyce LaFontaine for the amazing cake pops she donated. Thank you for MEPSI for the absolutely gorgeous space at Spaces and for including us in the amazing evening. Thank you to Fourth City Sisters for collaborating with us to show so much Sister presence
